Residential Homebuilding Regualtory Changes

Have you seen the new OSHA standards for residential fall protection or should I say the reapplication of the old rules. OSHA recently put out a directive STD-03-11-02 rescinding the residential fall protection standards that were in place for contractors. This new directive refers to the STD 03-00-001 Interim Fall Protection Compliance Guidelines for Residential Construction.

So what is the short version of this change? Bottom line, personal fall arrest systems (harness, lanyard, anchor point) or other fall protection system needs to be in place no matter what. Check out some of the fall protection manufacturers for more information on compliance and product offerings.
